Semrush gives you much more data as it’s a well-rounded tool covering both SEO and PPC. It has a larger database with more features than other SEO tools. It offers many apps and supporting tools for content creation, such as AI marketing, an AI social content generator, AdCreative.ai, etc.
Pricing: Semrush is more costly, with its plans starting from $129.95 per month and going up to the business model, which is customized depending on your needs.

I’ve been using Rankmath and love it for making WordPress SEO a breeze. After SEO research, you absolutely need a WordPress SEO plugin that will ensure you hit all the right marks while publishing content. Rankmath takes care of everything.

With Surfer SEO, it’s different. You get to research, plan, write, and see how to rank blog posts with this tool. When you select a keyword for your article, you will be given complete keyword research with the top related keywords, their search volume, and keyword difficulty. You get to compare with the competitors who have used and ranked for those keywords.
While writing the article, you get to analyze headings used in ranked articles, and you can add them to your blog outline. Surfer SEO offers to help you write the article and has a “Write With AI” feature. While creating the article, you can set the tone and get advanced options to customize your article further using the SERP results.

GKP is the best free keyword research tool next to Ahrefs and Semrush. If you don’t have the budget for these tools or don’t want to invest in paid tools right away, GKP is the right start.
It’s a tool marketers use for paid advertising on Google, so the data it stores is much more accurate and regularly updated. You can easily find and shortlist keywords for your entire content plan through GKP.
Since it’s free, it doesn’t offer every feature of a paid SEO tool like Ahrefs. But with the keyword difficulty and volume features and some additional free tools, you can create a sound keywords bank.

Linkstorm is a tool for tracking and automating the addition of internal links to blog posts. The tool asks you to create a new project for a new blog post. It then crawls the post and generates a list of internal links with their respective anchor text.
It doesn’t automatically add the link unless you accept it. So, you eliminate tracking and scratching your head over which link to add.

Sparktoro
I love this tool because it saves me hours of surfing the web to find resources to quote in my articles.
Sparktoro is an audience research tool that shows what your audience looks for and the top creators and brands they follow for a keyword query. It also shows the related keywords for your target keyword so you can create a well-rounded article without making it fluffy.
However, my favorite feature of this tool is its channel suggestions. You get a list of YouTube channels, Reddit threads, and Podcasts most famous for your keyword. I love adding expert quotes to my content. While Qwoted and Help A B2B writer are good, I’m more inclined to take quotes from podcasts or interviews as they save time.
With Sparktoro, I can find those resources in minutes, which would have taken quite some time to surface on the web.
If you opt for the paid plan, you can get all audience demographic data, emails, and social contact data. Isn’t that a treat for researchers?
You can uncover audience behaviors and preferences by seeing the platforms they use to research a specific query.

Scroll through the questions people ask and the answers they provide. You can find quite a few additions to your blog posts.
Best for: Content writers, marketers, and brands that want to make their content highly relatable and match the search intent by using what the audience actually thinks.
Tweet Hunter
It’s my go-to tool for surfing Twitter, or X, as it’s called now. I always strive to add as much expert content to my blog posts as possible. It adds authenticity and elevates your blog to the ranks of experts in your field.
Twitter is a warehouse of many qualified people from all fields. You can extract many gems in the form of posts that can add value to your content. And ultimately, using social media posts in your blog is important.
But how do you find the post you need in the sea of content? With Tweet Hunter.

I’m a LinkedIn person. LinkedIn was the first social media tool I used for my business, and it’s still on my priority list.
The amount of content I get to use as expert quotes is impeccable. What Tweet Hunter is to X, Kleo is to LinkedIn.
It’s a step ahead of Tweet Hunter in its features. You can get the best-performing posts for a certain topic so you can replicate the style of that post for similar results. That’s the main purpose Jake developed this tool—to understand the anatomy of a viral or good-performing post.
But it also works as a research tool. The posts are sorted based on the most likes, comments, newest, oldest, or impressions received. You can also find all the best-performing posts from a single person if you open their profile and then use Kleo.

From grammatical errors to making sentences sound better and fit the writing style, Grammarly saves much time. Since it does the copy editing, you can focus more on what matters—writing itself!
But remember that Grammarly is just a tool. It is not always going to be accurate. Before you accept all of Grammarly’s suggestions, ensure they’re right. Grammarly mostly does this with Oxford commas; it gets messed up often.
But apart from that, this tool is a savior. Recently, with AI, Grammarly can also write content for you for emails and does the basic plagiarism check. It’s a good and decent start when compared to other plagiarism tools.

Hemingway Editor
You must have heard that social and online writing needs to be easy. Write it as simply as possible so that even your eight-year-old nephew can understand it.
Being a writer (a creative writer first), I had the habit of writing long sentences with clauses. The goal was to make the sentences sound like they came from a novel.
That’s not the case with online writing. It needs to be crisp and short. With Hemingway Editor, you can control this issue. Named after the writer Ernest Hemingway for his simple writing style, Hemingway Editor is a free online tool that evaluates your content based on its ease of understanding. It is graded, with a lower grade denoting greater understanding.
For example, if the grade is 5, a fifth grader can easily understand your content. The optimal rating is grade 7. Keep your writing at grade 7, and you’ll be good for any kind of audience.
Again, note that not all readers are the same. Sometimes, when writing for an audience like stakeholders and C-suiters, the language should meet their reading standards. At such times, you must ignore some Hemingway editor suggestions and go above the grade 7 level.

The paraphrase is pretty good as it gives you options to select your writing tone and paraphrase your content while maintaining your original writing style.

There are many plagiarism-checking tools in the market but I swear by Quetext. It finds matches down to the T. You get a plagiarism match even if a few words in a sentence match that of something already published.
With plagiarism, the tool also offers an AI checker and a grammar checker tool. Though you might not use Quetext for AI and grammar, you can’t ignore its plagiarism-checking prowess.

Wordtune can do many things, but to put it simply, it’s an AI-powered tool that assists writers in improving their copy. Wordtune does it all, including rewriting, rephrasing, editing, and changing the tone.

Canva
Blogging is incomplete without high-quality and original visuals. You must already know how impactful infographics and other visual elements are for gaining backlinks and social shares. Visuals also help convey a thousand words in one image.
However, creating visuals that attract and retain traffic isn’t as easy, especially when it comes to originality. Thanks to Canva, non-designers like me don’t have to suffer due to the lack of visuals in blogs.
I can write a two thousand-word article in a day, but I prefer to do something other than design. However, Canva never makes me feel like an amateur. More importantly, you need an email marketing tool that does most of the heavy lifting for you so you can spend more time on your blog.
ConvertKit is my favorite, and it’s been doing everything I need as a blogger efficiently.

Topmate
Bookings, one-on-one calls, discovery calls with leads, freebies, and digital products—there’s so much a solopreneur has to manage.
But, the main problem is managing everything from different platforms means remembering many things unnecessarily. Passwords, updates, the tons of emails every platform sends, multiple links to add on every social platform—you can imagine how cumbersome handling different tools at once is.

Imagine you’re talking to a lead, and the conversion isn’t moving from “What time is convenient for you?” With Calendly, you can simply put the link in your message, and the lead can book a convenient time.
Calendly is a digital calendar where you display your availability for meetings. You can create different events for different kinds of meetings. For example, one event could be for one-on-one calls with leads and another with your sales team. Both events will be displayed on your profile, and visitors can choose any one event they want.
Once the call is booked, Calendly sends you and the attendees a confirmation email with a meeting invite. There is no hassle with confirmations and reminders.
If booking calls and scheduling are your only problems, Calendly is the best tool.

You can create landing pages and add testimonials, ratings, and product pricing. Gumroad allows you to create landing pages from scratch if you don’t have a website. You can also connect your website with Gumroad. Among other features are the subscription models for having recurring buyers, offering discounts, generating license keys for software, and analytics.

AI tools
ChatGPT
Every blogger needs to invest in some AI tools. Since the advent of AI, many blogging activities have become easy. Researching blogs that would have taken me at least three hours earlier now only takes an hour.
Other blogging activities like finding blog posts that need updates, analysis of competitors and own content to find the missing elements, image creation, coding for website UX and design, and much more have become easier with ChatGPT.
The AI tool comes in two versions: the free GPT 3 model and the $20-per-month GPT 4 model. I recommend you use the paid version, as it offers custom GPTs, plugins, and web access, which the free plan doesn’t.

Claude is similar to ChatGPT, so I won’t go into detail about it. However, what I found to be a big difference between the tools is their research and writing ability.
